Vehco Eco-Driving Challenge reduced emissions with 4 810 tonnes of CO2

During 2018, more than 9000 drivers participated in Vehco Eco-Driving Challenge. The competition was a great success where about 60 companies with approximately 4200 vehicles participated. Vehco’s  estimations show reduced CO2-emissions of about 4 810 tonnes and a reduction of the fuel consumption by about 1 822 100 liters of diesel for the companies that competed. For the customers, this also meant reduced fuel costs by approximately 2,004,100 €. Ahola Transports won the most pristigeous prize as the European Champion.

The competition, called "Vehco Eco-Driving Challenge", is voluntary among Vehco’s customers and it is based on the Vehco Eco-Driving Index . The index is based on six driving parameters that have a great influence on the driving behavior. The driving behavior has improved during the competition. When Vehco analysed the data, the improved behavior proved to deliver major fuel savings . Vehco's estimate shows that the competing companies reduced their total consumption by approximately 1 822 100 liters of diesel, resulting in reduced CO2 emissions of approximately 4 810 tonnes and savings of about 2,004,100 €.

To make the competition even more exiting, the 60 competing companies were divided into 6 different classes based on country (SE, NO, FI, DK, DE, FR) and in a class for bus operators in Europe . Further Vehco has also followed the companies with the best improvements during the year and best Eco-driving momentum. During the competition Vehco has continuously updated a performance chart on the company's website to keep all stakeholders informed about the leaders. ( http://www.vehco.com/en/eco-driving/vehco-eco-driving-challenge)

Great commitment among customers

During the Challenge, the interest from Vehco's customers has grown and people who are working to improve driving behavior and reduced fuel consumption/environmental impact have shown a great commitment for the competition.

" It was a very good initiative from Vehco and a good competition, and it delivered good results and savings for us. All people in the entire company were very involved and interested. We all learned a lot during the competition. But the work of eco-driving does not stop here, this was just the beginning, but a good start to the work now will continue and be further developed. "

Andreas Lindedahl, Market Manager, RL-TRANS Oy Ab

Award ceremony

Vehco invited the winners of the competition to a prize ceremony at its headquarters in Gothenburg on March 1. In conjunction with the ceremony, the different companies shared their experiences with each other and Vehco how they worked to succeed in Eco-Driving.
